Russian general in charge of chemical weapons unit killed in Moscow scooter blast

Lt Gen Igor Kirillov killed along with his deputy after device attached to escooter exploded

A senior Russian general has died after an explosive device hidden in an electric scooter detonated outside an apartment building in Moscow, in an attack claimed by Ukraine that marks one of the boldest targeted assassinations of a senior military official since Russia’s full-scale invasion of the country.

Lt Gen Igor Kirillov, the head of the military’s chemical, biological and radiological weapons unit, was killed along with his assistant when the blast went off as the two men left a building in a residential area in south-east Moscow on Tuesday.

A source in Ukraine’s SBU security service said Kyiv was behind the attack.  Read more…

Chrystia Freeland Resigns; Trudeau Panics

Maxime Bernier “I am Canada’s Trump, Poilievre is Trudeau-lite”

‘Eventful day,’ Trudeau says after Chrystia Freeland quits cabinet, LeBlanc tapped to replace her

In a stunning move, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland announced her resignation from Justin Trudeau’s cabinet on Monday, after the prime minister told her he no longer wanted her in the top economic post.

After hours of turmoil, longtime Trudeau ally and senior cabinet minister Dominic LeBlanc, was sworn-in as her replacement in the finance portfolio, in a ceremony held at Rideau Hall on Monday afternoon.

In Freeland’s absence, Government House Leader Karina Gould tabled the government’s long-anticipated fall economic statement in the House of Commons – on the second last day of the House of Commons fall sitting, without a speech. It showed a deficit of $61.9-billion for 2023-24(opens in a new tab).

This major shakeup and the political uncertainty it prompted, has revived calls for Trudeau to resign, both from other party leaders and within his own caucus. The prime minister, according to sources, is now said to be considering prorogation, as well as his options as leader.   Read more…

Hundreds seeking death due to loneliness — inside Canada’s new MAID figures

In Quebec, one in every 14 deaths is now from assisted suicide

With only two weeks left to go in 2024, Health Canada has finally released the official figures on medical assistance in dying (MAID) deaths in 2023. The Fifth Annual Report on Medical Assistance in Dying in Canada, published on Wednesday, reveals that one in every 20 Canadian deaths is now due to assisted suicide.

There were 15,343 total MAID deaths in 2023, the median age of successful assisted suicide applicants was 77.7 years, and 622 people received MAID for a non-terminal illness.

But beneath those banner figures are some more surprising takeaways that are largely flying under the radar. Below, a cursory look at just how much of an outlier Canada is on assisted suicide.

Canada has likely already surpassed the Netherlands as the world capital of assisted suicide

As per the new report, Canada is second only to the Netherlands in terms of the percentage of overall deaths attributable to assisted suicide.

In 2023, about five per cent of Dutch deaths were due to euthanasia, just ahead of Canada’s 4.7 per cent. But as detailed below, Canada’s growth rate is way higher than the Netherlands. The Dutch took 22 years to reach five per cent, compared to just seven years for Canada.

So, given that the 2023 figures are now almost a year old, Canada is likely already in a situation in which a higher proportion of Canadians are dying by assisted suicide than in any other country.  Read more…

European Committee gives green light to use self-replicating vaccines on citizens of EU countries

The Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use has recommended marketing authorisation for Kostaive, a self-replicating mRNA (“saRNA”) injection developed by Arcturus Therapeutics.  The final decision for regulatory approval now rests with the European Commission.

The European Commission must reject authorisation for these dangerous saRNA (replicon) vaccines.

On 12 December 2024, the European Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (“CHMP”) issued a positive opinion recommending marketing authorisation for Kostaive, a self-replicating (replicon) mRNA injection developed by Arcturus Therapeutics. The final decision for regulatory approval now rests with the European Commission.

Japan had already approved these injections last year. In November 2023, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) fully approved CSL and Arcturus Therapeutics’ replicon shot, Kostaive ARCT-154. Despite enormous safety concerns, Japan’s MHLW approved the updated booster shot in September 2024 to target the JN.1 lineage of Omicron subvariants.

During the clinical trials for Kostaivefive deaths were reported among participants in the phase 3b study. Across study phases 1, 2, and 3a combined, 90% of injected participants experienced adverse events, with 74.5% reporting systemic reactions and 15.2% requiring medical attention after the first dose. Notably, many of the study authors are full-time employees of Arcturus Therapeutics, raising concerns about bias in their conclusions.  Read more…

BOMBSHELL: Australian drug regulator knows DNA fragments in mRNA vaccines can enter nucleus
and integrate into genome, internal emails show

The Therapeutic Goods Administration withheld information on DNA contamination risks from the public, presenting a picture of certainty where there is none

Internal emails from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) reveal that the regulator withheld knowledge of DNA contamination risks relating to the modRNA vaccines from the public, presenting a picture of certainty on safety where there is none.

Released under Freedom of Information (FOI), the cache of emails shows that high-level TGA staff knew elements of the modRNA vaccines can enter the cell nucleus and integrate into the genome, despite the agency’s official line that such events are not possible.

However, TGA personnel appear more preoccupied with “allaying fears in the public” than with investigating the potential risks.

Highlights

  • TGA staff acknowledge that DNA integration into the genome is possible

  • The TGA knows that the SV40 enhancer/promoter in the Pfizer vaccine can drag DNA into the nucleus of cells

  • Pfizer did not disclose the SV40 sequence to the regulator

  • TGA staff not aware of any testing for modRNA/DNA integration into human genome

On 18 October, the TGA published a statement, ‘Addressing misinformation about excessive DNA in the mRNA vaccines.’

The statement came after the release of a report by Canadian virologist Dr David Speicher alleging the presence of synthetic plasmid DNA fragments in Australian vials of modRNA Covid vaccines at levels of up to 145 times the regulatory limit.

The issue gained national media attention after a vote by the Council of mining town Port Hedland on 11 October calling for the immediate suspension of the vaccines pending an investigation into the DNA contamination, due to the potential risks of genomic integration, cancers, and other long-term health impacts.

The TGA’s statement was littered with false and misleading claims, which have been addressed in detail here. Now, emails released under FOI reveal that the TGA knowingly withheld information on DNA contamination risks from the public.  Read more…

Federal Court Overturns 2020 Decision, Rules GMOs Must Be Regulated

The Dec. 3 ruling overturns the 2020 rule overhaul by the first Trump administration that had eliminated most government oversight over GE crops, trees and grasses. The court held that the previous regulations violated the Plant Protection Act and the Administrative Procedure Act.

In a precedential victory for food and environmental safety, a federal district court ruled on Dec. 3 that genetically engineered (GE) organisms must be regulated. The court’s ruling overturns the 2020 rule overhaul by the first Trump administration that had eliminated most government oversight over GE crops, trees and grasses.

“This is a critical victory on behalf of farmers, the planet, and scientific integrity,” said George Kimbrell, legal director for the lead plaintiff Center for Food Safety, and counsel in the case. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) “tried to hand over its job to Monsanto and the pesticide industry and the Court held that capitulation contrary to both law and science.”

The ruling is a rebuke of the first Trump administration’s efforts to practically eliminate oversight of novel GE technology and instead let industry self-regulate. Previously, nearly all GE plants went through agency approval before experimental planting and again before any commercial use.

Center for Food Safety and allies sued the USDA in 2021 to reverse this rollback, arguing that the rule change violated numerous environmental laws, including the Endangered Species Act, the National Environmental Policy Act and the Plant Protection Act.

The court held that the regulations violated the Plant Protection Act and the Administrative Procedure Act.

The court’s decision sharply criticized the defendant federal agency for its abrupt reversal after more than a decade of recognizing the harms of novel GE technology.

The court at various points held the agency decision was in “direct conflict with the conclusion of its own experts,” and was based on “perception and beliefs” that are merely “asserted as fiat untethered to a clear and sound analysis.”  Read more…
