WHO declares mpox outbreaks in Africa a global health emergency
as a new form of the virus spreads
The World Health Organization has declared the mpox outbreaks in Congo and elsewhere in Africa a global emergency, with cases confirmed among children and adults in more than a dozen countries and a new form of the virus spreading. Few vaccine doses are available on the continent.
Earlier this week, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that the mpox outbreaks were a public health emergency, with more than 500 deaths, and called for international help to stop the virus’ spread.
“This is something that should concern us all … The potential for further spread beyond Africa and beyond is very worrying,” said WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
The Africa CDC previously said that mpox, also known as monkeypox, has been detected in 13 countries this year, and that more than 96% of all cases and deaths are in Congo. Cases are up 160% and deaths are up 19% compared with the same period last year. So far, there have been more than 14,000 cases and 524 people have died.
“We are now in a situation where (mpox) poses a risk to many more neighbours in and around central Africa,” said Salim Abdool Karim, a South African infectious diseases expert who chairs the Africa CDC emergency group. He noted that the new version of mpox spreading from Congo appears to have a death rate of about 3-4%.
During the global 2022 mpox outbreak that affected more than 70 countries, fewer than 1% of people died.
Michael Marks, a professor of medicine at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, said declaring the mpox outbreaks in Africa an emergency is warranted if that might lead to more support to contain them. Read more…

Covid Masks Cause Toxic Particle Inhalation, Study Warns
The face masks that people were forced to wear during the Covid pandemic do far more harm than good, a new study is warning.
The scoping-review study reveals that the masks expose wearers to toxic particles.
Led by Professor Kai Kisielinski, the study was conducted by a team of leading researchers in Germany.
In the “Conclusion” section, the researchers note:
“Undoubtedly, mask mandates during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic have been generating an additional source of potentially harmful exposition to toxins with health-threatening and carcinogenic properties at the population level with almost zero distance to the airways.”
The study discovered high levels of microplastic and nanoplastic particles are released by the masks.
Specifically, the researchers found that those little plastic particles can be inhaled and should be considered toxic to wearers.
Moreover, they also found that volatile organic compounds are being released by the masks.
The researchers found traces of acrolein and phthalates along with other chemicals such as xylene, per- and poly-fluoroalkyl (PFAS) substances.

Natural farming and genetically modified (“GM”)crops are fundamentally incompatible. The promotion of natural farming methods, which prioritise ecological balance and biodiversity, cannot coexist with the widespread cultivation of GM crops.
Natural farming emphasises cooperation with nature, whereas GM crops rely on technological intervention and manipulation of biological systems. These differing philosophies are incompatible and cannot be reconciled.
Natural farming aims to promote ecological balance and minimize harm to the environment. GM crops, on the other hand, have been linked to negative environmental and health impacts, including reduced biodiversity, increased pesticide use and potential harm to human health.
Natural farming relies on diverse, open-pollinated seeds, whereas GM crops are often proprietary and controlled by multinational corporations. This shift in seed ownership and control undermines farmers’ autonomy and sovereignty over their agricultural practices.
And there are serious health implications for humans and animals as well. With genetic engineering, familiar foods could become dangerous or even toxic. it could also upset complex biochemical networks and create new bioactive compounds or change the concentrations of those normally present. Unpopular Japan PM Kishida to step down
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced Wednesday he will step aside next month, ending a three-year term plagued by low popularity ratings and a spluttering economy.
The ruling Liberal Democratic Party, which has governed almost uninterrupted for decades, is due to hold a leadership contest next month, with the winner to become prime minister.
Kishida said Wednesday he will not seek re-election as party chief.
“In this (party) presidential election, it is necessary to show the people that the LDP is changing and the party is a new LDP,” Kishida told reporters in Tokyo.
“For this, transparent and open elections and free and vigorous debate are important. The most obvious first step to show that the LDP will change is for me to step aside,” he said.
Kishida, 67, in office since October 2021, has seen his and his party’s poll ratings slide sharply in response to rising prices hitting Japanese incomes and several scandals. Read more…

EU fines Hungary €200 million for refusing open borders
And an additional €1 million every day that they don’t open the borders.
The top court in the EU just ruled that Hungary shall be fined a whopping €200 million AND a daily €1 million penalty for refusing to open their borders and for having deported people.
Hungary has been one of the few countries in Europe that has not followed the open borders agenda, and now they are being punished for it.
”The ECJ’s decision to fine Hungary with 200M euros plus 1M euros daily(!!!) for defending the borders of the European Union is outrageous and unacceptable” said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Hungary has refused asylum seekers from staying in the country while their asylum applications are being processed.
People who want to seek asylum in Hungary have to do so at their embassies in neighbouring countries and people who try to cross the borders are stopped.

Human Rights Lawyer: Olympic Boxer’s ‘Cyberbullies’ Lawsuit A Threat To Free Speech
A human rights lawyer has warned that a lawsuit brought by Algerian Olympic boxer Imane Khelif against the likes of Elon Musk and JK Rowling could set a significant precedent against free speech.
Khelif, who competed and won a gold medal in the women’s welterweight division, despite having XY chromosomes, is charging that prominent personalities and bodies engaged in “acts of aggravated cyber harassment.”
Questions were raised by both the World Boxing Organisation and the International Boxing Association regarding Khelif’s eligibility to compete as a woman following two previous ‘failed’ gender tests.
Speaking to GB News, human rights lawyer David Haigh warned that the lawsuit could lead to “policing of social media” across borders.
Haigh outlined “If they proceed with this, the Paris prosecutors have the reach jurisdiction to come to other countries. And if that is the case, that then is a very concerning development.”
